music for film:

I’ve written and recorded music for commercial, documentary and narrative film made by Gray Picture in St. Louis, MO, ranging from ad-shorts to feature-length films.  Below are a few projects with links.
I am currently attached in some musical capacity to a few forthcoming projects too early to share.

Lost In Place (2019)
Original Score, Short

dir: Robert T Herrera, Gray Picture, St Louis, MO Project Shelved
Save for one song, all music was created using a bowed appetizer bowl and pitch shifting.  The resulting sound - a haunting tone which sounds almost like feedback - mimics tinnitus, a condition the main character Rigel (a military Veteran) is assumed to have.  While the film itself never screened, the bowed-appetizer-bowl /pitch shift is a technique that I use often now, and it shows up in many projects.
Performed, Recorded and Mixed in my studio at UTK.

Palacios (2017)
Original Score, feature-length Narrative
dir: Robert T Herrera, Gray Picture, St Louis, MO
The music for Palacios was written and recorded to be more textural and less melodic, in order to underscore the dialogue without distracting from it.  The themes are built from looping vocal samples and guitar harmonics.  Many pieces were written prior to the edit being locked, but inspired by conversations with the Director.
Performed and Recorded in my studio in Northwest Arkansas.

The Gray Seasons (2011)
Original Score, feature-length Documentary
dir: Robert T Herrera, Gray Picture, St Louis, MO
Theme^
Approached as more of a Soundtrack than a Score, these songs were written prior to seeing an edit of the film.  The themes were Piano and Percussion-centric, with bells and synth.  Other songs were recorded using traditional “rock band” instrumentation.
Recorded and Engineered by Justin Douglas at Shine Studios (now King Electric) in Austin, TX.
